We are pleased to welcome Professor Yasutora Watanabe, University of Tokyo. 

Discussion theme: Big Data and Context-Based Marketing

Yasu will discuss how big data can be an enabler for understanding customer behavior, particularly when contextual factors play an important role, as well as his perspectives on how analytics, big data, and AI can create value in business.

Prior to joining the University of Tokyo, Yasu was the Head of Economics at Amazon Japan, where he worked on marketing and product development. and previously held academic positions at HKUST Business School and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Yasu’s academic work covers wide range of topics from bank mergers to strategic voting in elections. Currently, he is working on the adoption and the impact of AI-suggestions for taxi driver, among other interesting projects.
